Iman Sami (Jewelry Making & Design Instructor)

Egypt

An Egyptian with international and multicultural background, Iman Sami is a force of creativity and intuition. She started her professional career right after graduating from the Faculty of Commerce as a Bachelor of Arts holder and commissioned in several roles focusing on Project & Sales Management.

In 2003 she moved to New York and started to take serious steps towards recognizing her artistic vocation. She attained a two years diploma in Interior Design from Parsons School, in addition to several other studies in Antique connoisseurship, cooking & cake decoration from New York Culinary Institute.

Moving back to Cairo, Iman founded her private business in culinary and opened her restaurant while exploring other creative & artistic domains. She started by taking several metalsmithing  short courses at the Design Studio by Azza Fahmy (DSAF) which lead her to enroll as a full-time student in the school’s academic program in year 2017.

During her studies at DSAF, Iman showed interest in abstract shapes and forms that appeared in the majority of her work. She loves exploring the boundaries of jewelry making and challenging traditional notions. This drove her to start assisting various international visiting artists and focusing on more conceptual and contemporary design workshops.

The boldness of her character comes through loud and clear in her work. She designs & makes jewelry that is as inspiring as it is edgy. Inspired by feminism, empowerment and important topics such as female oppression and breaking barriers

Iman has also participated in numerous national and international exhibitions such as Legnica Jewelry Festival SILVER in Poland and Athens Jewelry Week.  She is currently part of DSAF faculty acting as one of the main teachers for various programs locally & regionally with a concentration in concept & design
